About
I have been an enthusiast in photography for (hmmmmm let me think) as long as I care to remember. My first indoctrination into photography was by an English friend who studied graphic design and later became a professional graphic designer. At that time we also enjoyed motor biking particular around the “A” routes in England and Wales (places like Lake District, Castleton, York, Buxton, Chester, Knutsford, Bala etc; etc.)
I was always amazed by the beautiful landscapes of the British countryside, the historical sites and the way my very good friend was able to capture them either by painting or photography. At that time being a poor student, I did not have the means to buy a SLR and all I had was an Olympus Trip which at times did not work. Consequently I was more an observer than an active participant on most of the photographic adventures. However, I learned a lot from observing and from then began to slow down and appreciate every place I traveled to soaking in all the beauty and atmosphere the place has to offer.
Today, what photography means to me is to observe, appreciate and capture the essence of the scene, the object or the subject. Photography also serves as a form of great relaxation (close to meditation) when one completely slows down and studies every detail of the scene and the beauty that the world has to offer. It is quite amazing how all the troubles and worries of daily life disappear once I start concentrating in the capture of the scene and the atmosphere.
Needless to say I am not a professional; more like a photographer extraordinaire wannabe. Perhaps my user name should be Obe Wannabe. Every time I look in Red Bubble I see lots of fantastic photographers out there and I sure hope that by observing their work I will be on the way to improve mine further. To all those great photographers who have contributed, thank you very much.
